6) Marking the neutral position that was determined:
Sagittal on the hip prosthesis socket, project and mark a vertical line with a crosshair laser
through the centre of the reference determination tool (see fig.7). For later rotation control of
the hip prosthesis socket during bench alignment, mark the line on the distal side of the hip
prosthesis socket as far medial as possible and later extend it to the medial socket edge (pel
vis rotation line).
Transfer the height of the trochanter major onto this TMS line from the contralateral side and
mark it.
Mark the alignment reference line parallel to the TMS line at a distance of 20mm to posterior.
7) Mark the reference line for positioning the lamination plate in the frontal plane:
Transfer half of the measurement y between the centre of the body and the contralateral outer
side to the hip prosthesis socket side (y/2) and make a vertical mark (see fig.8, Pos. 1).
Draw a plumb line from this mark at a distance of 10–20mm (depending on patient circum
ference) (see fig.8, Pos. 2).
5.4 Bench Alignment
Alignment Recommendations
(Schematic of bench alignment for the 3R60=HD see fig.18 - The 647H540 Quick Start Guide
contains all schematics for bench alignment with the 3R60, 3R106=HD and 3C98-2 C-Leg.)
If the prosthesis is being fabricated with the 3B1 Genium prosthetic knee joint, the instructions for
bench alignment in combination with the 7E10* prosthetic hip joint from the seminar documenta
tion and the instructions for use of the prosthetic knee joint as well as X-Soft apply. Notwithstand
ing this, the distance from the partial gravity line to the alignment reference line from the align
ment recommendations that follow must be observed.
CAUTION
Modifying and exceeding the service life of the lamination plate
Risk of falling due to breakage or deformation of the lamination plate
Do not modify the lamination plate (e.g. by shortening or bending).
Do not exceed the service life of the lamination plate (see the chapter "Service Life").
Both prosthetic joints must be fully extended during bench alignment.
Bench Alignment Process
+ = anterior placement / – = posterior placement (in relation to the alignment reference line)
No. Reference measurements and positions for bench alignment, assembly tasks
Required tools and equipment:
Alignment apparatus (e.g. L.A.S.A.R. Assembly)
a–p positioning, middle of the prosthetic foot to the alignment reference line:
+30mm
Heel height:
effective heel height (x) + 5mm
External foot rotation:
approx.5°
Structural height of the prosthetic knee joint at the alignment reference point (anterior,
upper axis of 3R60=HD + 3R106=HD; rotation axis of 3C98-2):
MTP-floor measurement (z) + 20mm
a–ppositioning of the alignment reference point to the alignment reference line:
3R60=HD + 3R106=HD (anterior, upper axis): 0mm
3C98-2 (rotation axis): 0 to +5 mm
