5. Options and settings of the PIKO SmartControl
®
System
5.1 Link the PIKO SmartBox
®
into a local network
There are two options for connecting your PIKO SmartBox
®
to a network: WiFi or LAN.
Connection via LAN
The Ethernet-socket of the PIKO SmartBox
®
is working in DHCP-mode. It will automatically receive an
IP-adress as soon as you connect your PIKO SmartBox
®
to the network. It should be able to connect to
the internet once it has acquired and IP-address. Please check your network and rewall settings in
case it can‘t connect to the internet.
Connection via WiFi
The PIKO SmartBox
®
‘s WiFi interface can operate in two different modes:
1) „Servermode / AccessPoint“: The PIKO SmartBox
®
will create a local WiFi network. The name of this
network (SSID) is always “SmartBox”. Additonal PIKO SmartController
®
s can connect to it and will
automatically receive an IP-adress. If the PIKO SmartBox
®
is connected to a network via LAN , the
PIKO SmartController
®
can access the internet if the local network has internet access.
2) „Slave Mode“: In this mode the PIKO SmartBox
®
will connect to an existing local WiFi network.
The basic settings in this mode are:
• the SSID / network name will be „SmartBox“ by default.
• the PIKO SmartBox
®
has the IP address 192.168.65.1
• Further devices that connect with the PIKO SmartBox
®
will get IP-addresses between 192.168.65.2
and 192.168.65.254
