This Chapter contains instructions for the removal, disassembly, inspection, overhaul, installation and
alignment of the various landing gear and brake system components.
1. Description
The landing gear installed in the Warrior III is a fixed, tricycle type, fitted with two 6:00 x 6 main wheels
and a 5:00 x 5 nose wheel. The landing gear struts are of the air-oil type. The nose gear is steerable
through a 40° arc, enabling a short turning radius in each direction. Spring assisted push rods are
attached to the rudder pedal torque tube assemblies to aid in nose wheel and rudder centering. A
shimmy dampener is also incorporated in the nose wheel steering mechanism.
The two main wheels are each equipped with single disc hydraulic brake assemblies which are actuated
by individual toe-brake cylinders attached to each rudder pedal. A parking brake is operated by pulling
back on the brake handle (in the center below the instrument panel) and pushing in on the button at the
side of the handle. To disengage the parking brake, pull back on the hand brake handle. A brake fluid
reservoir is installed on the left forward face of the engine fire wall.
2. Troubleshooting
See Chart 1.
NOTE: When troubleshooting the landing gear system, it may be found that it is necessary to place the
airplane on jacks. If so, see 7-10-00.
