B. Maintenance
The Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) published by Avidyne provide the necessary
information for maintaining this system as installed in Piper airplanes, except as noted below.
(1) Primary Flight Display (PFD) (PIR-PPS60213, Rev. New / PPS60213-1 New.)
Use 700-00006-0XX PFD & 700-00011-0XX Mag/OAT ICA, Avidyne Document No. AVPFD-
174, latest revision, with the following exceptions:

TE: Before attempting to set-up the PFD, ensure the GNS-430(s) have been configured
per the Post Installation Set-up Procedure under COM/NAV/GPS in 34-50-00.

TE: In S/N’s 2842201 and up, before attempting to set-up the PFD, ensure the GTX-330 is
configured per the Post Installation Set-up Procedure under “Transponder, S/N’s
2842201 and up,” in 34-50-00.
(a) In para 6, “Troubleshooting Information,” in the chart where it says “OAT (Option),” cross
out “option.” The OAT is standard in the Piper installation.
(b) In para 7.2, “Primary Flight Display Installation,” and Figure 7, the standard Avidyne
installation describes alignment and mating pins and retaining clips on the sides of the
PFD. For the Piper installation, however, there is only a single alignment pin on the top of
the PFD engaging a slot in the upper rear cross bracket. (See Figure 2, Sheet 1.)
(c) In para 7.5.2.2 in “Table 2 - Main RS232 Configuration Page,” for CHNL 3 under GNS-430 in
slot # 2, both Input and Output should read “Crossfill” instead of “Off.”
(d) Para 7.5.5, “Autopilot Setup,” is not applicable to the Warrior III installation.
(2) Multifunction Display (MFD)
Use 700-00004-0XX-() Multifunction Displa
y ICA, Avidyne Document No. AVMFD-167, latest
revision, with the following exceptions:

TE: The following is written for airplanes with MFD Software 530-00177-000 (latest
revision); exceptions or differences for airplanes equipped with earlier software
versions are noted as required.
(a) In para 2, “Description,” capabilities 7 and 8 are standard (not optional) in the Piper
installation. Cross out “(optional)” beside those capabilities only.
(b) In para 7.3.1, “Maintenance Mode Access,” step #4, add the following: “Rotate the left
knob counterclockwise until the Aux Page is displayed.”
(c) Engine Setup
(PIR-PPS60212, Rev. A / PPS60212-1, New.)

Engine Instrument Setup page.

Using the left knob to select the configuration field and the right knob to select the
desired configuration, configure the Engine Setup page for the following conditions:
a
Serial Port: RS232 4
b
Aircraft Model: From the choices offered, make appropriate selection:
PA28-161 (Warrior)
c
When configuring a MFD for the first time only, the following set-up box appears:
“Select ACFT Model and Port(s) Then Press ‘Resync’ to connect to DAU”
Press “Resync”
Press “Save”
d
DAU Status Box should indicate proper engine for above selection.

Depress Save LSK (R1).
