Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Gauge
NOTE: In S/N’s 2842218 and up, for airplanes equipped with the Avidyne Entegra EFIS, engine data is
collected by the Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) and is displayed on the Multi-Function Display
(MFD) and Primary Flight Display (PFD). See Electronic Flight Instrument System, 34-20-00,
and 91-77-40.
A. Description
This instrument aids the pilot in selecting an economical fuel-air mixture for cruising flight at a
power setting of 75 percent or less, and to adjust mixture setting at altitudes above 5,000 feet. It
monitors the temperature of exhaust gases leaving the engine cylinders. The gauge is adjustable. If
found defective after checking with troubleshooting chart, it must be replaced. If leads to gauge are
defective, they must be replaced. Because the resistance of the electrical leads is critical for proper
gauge operation, they must be replaced with the same type and length of wire.
B. Troubleshooting
See Chart 1.
C. Removal
(1) EGT Gauge
(a) Disconnect wires from EGT gauge at instrument panel.
(b) Remove four bolts holding gauge to instrument panel and remove gauge.
(2) EGT Probe
(a) Remove wires from wire harness going to engine.
(b) Loosen clamp holding EGT probe to number one cylinder exhaust manifold and remove
probe.
