3.5.4 Film Rewind Tension Settings
The tension of the film rewind has an adjustment scale of 0 to 10.
All films have different widths and strengths; this is the reason why the rewind tension is
adjustable.
The normal setting is from 5 to 7, but could be outside this range to suit a specific film.
To set the correct tension, start at setting 5.
If the film maintains tension whilst it is being fed then the tension is correct.
If it fails to maintain tension then increase the setting by one increment at a time until tension is
maintained.
If the film snaps at setting 5 reduce the setting by one increment at a time until tension is
maintained.
An alternative method is: -
Set to 10, it is then expected that the film will snap at the skeletal waste on the rewind, where the
film is at its weakest.
If this is the case, then reduce the settings by one increment ensuring tension is maintained whilst
the film is being fed without snapping.
3.5.5 Gas Flush Time Settings
1. The range of the timer is adjustable from 0 to 3 seconds.
2. A small orange line indicates the set value.
3. Rotating the outside bezel can change the value.
4. The green LED indicates the timer has finished timing.
We suggest the gas flush time is initially set at 2 seconds. Check the tray gas content, if it is okay
reduce the time by 0.5 seconds and check the tray gas content. If it is still okay reduce the time
until it is not okay then increase the time back to its last okay value. This should give you the most
efficient use of the gas whilst maintaining a good gas content.
3.5.6 Gas Flush Pressure Regulator Settings
The GTR modified atmosphere packaging gas pressure regulator should be set to give a gauge
reading of 1 to 1.5 Bar. For applications where gas usage is not critical the pressure can be raised
and the Gas Flush Time setting reduced to give a higher machine throughput.
