6.5 Cam Positioning, Damper Replacement and Setting
6.5.1 Cam Positioning
Put the table in station with the damper removed. Loosen the locking screw and position the cam
at top dead centre.
Find this position by manually pushing the damper shaft towards the cam, whilst rotating the
damper cam backwards and forwards.
When the correct position has been found tighten the screw that clamps the cam to the centre
boss.
6.5.2 Damper Replacement and Setting
With the table in station screw the damper (by hand) into the mounting block and continue to wind
in until the damper fully compresses and goes solid.
Then "unwind" the damper 2 turns until the 0 mark is vertically upwards. Tighten the locking nut
against the mounting bracket.
Now set the damper adjustment until the dial is midway between zero and one.
The damper is now set at the optimum setting.
If required the "feel" of the table can now be tuned to suit a particular operator by raising or
lowering the damper setting dial.
Turning the dial towards 0 increases the damper force, which makes the table harder to turn.
Turning the dial towards 1 or a higher number reduces the damper force, which makes the table
easier to turn.
