6.7 Machine Maintenance Schedule
The following schedule should be adhered too, to achieve maximum machine reliability. As the tool
may be hot and the trimblades are very sharp the correct PPE has to be worn such as heat
resistant gloves.
Daily
1. Clean the machine thoroughly ensuring it is to the required site standard.
2. Before commencing operations ensure the tool is clean. A build-up of food debris around the tool
could lead to seal problems.
3. Check the guards’ integrity and that the safety switches are operating correctly.
4. Check the E-Stop functions correctly.
5. Check the table is free to rotate.
6. Check the machine location does not present a safety hazard; it is stable and the transport
wheels are locked. Ensure it is in a location free from draughts or located near any equipment
which may affect the performance of the machine.
Weekly (Including Daily)
1. Check pneumatic circuit for air leaks.
2. Check the operation of the seal cylinder.
3. Check the operation of the eject cylinder.
4. Check the operation of the eject cylinder.
5. Check the air shut off valve operates correctly.
6. Check the film feed rollers rotate freely and are free of contamination.
7. The air regulator functions and is set to the correct value.
Monthly (Including Weekly)
1. Grease table bearing.
2. Check for loose components / fasteners.
3. Grease the rewind shaft bearing via the grease nipple on the housing.
4. Check the control cubicle seal integrity.
5. Check all pneumatic pipes and fittings are undamaged and function correctly.
6. Check condition of the air prep unit. Remove the air regulator filter bowl and clean.
7. Remove Film Infeed Guard and check the condition of the film feed timing belt and pulleys.
8. Remove Film Rewind Guard and check the condition and adjustment of the film rewind drive
chain.
9. Check the condition of the main supply cable and plug. If damaged replace immediately.
10. Check the earth straps are secure and in good condition.
Quarterly (Including Monthly)
1. Check the condition of the rubber coated infeed roller.
2. Check the condition of the machine control cubicle ensuring the wiring is safe to current
standards; all components are secure and all glands are fitted correctly.
3. Check the condition of the all guard fixings and hinges to ensure they are secure.
4. Check transport wheels are secure and in good condition and the locks operate correctly
5. Check the function of the hood gas springs.
6. Check the condition of the control button shrouds. Replace any that are damaged immediately.
7. Check the condition of the cylinder guide rods and bushes for signs of wear.
