Section 2: Operation/Programming
2.1 Power Up
WARNING
NEVER TOUCH THE TEST LEADS IN ANY MANNER (this includes insulation on all
wires and clips) WHEN THE HIGH VOLTAGE IS APPLIED AND RED DANGER
LIGHT IS ON.
USE ALL PRECAUTIONS NECESSARY TO AVOID TOUCHING THE DEVICE
UNDER TEST WHEN THE AMBER HIGH VOLTAGE LIGHT IS ON & FLASHING.
Connect the power cord (female end) to the AC inlet module on the rear panel of the instrument.
Connect the other end (male end) to the power receptacle. The instrument is to be used only
with three wire grounded outlets.
Power is applied to the Guardian 2500 by pressing the front panel POWER switch to ON (1
position).
WARNING
DO NOT TURN INSTRUMENT POWER ON OR OFF WITH TEST DEVICES CONNECTED.
2.2 Program/Setup Procedure (Test 1-25)
1. Press the TEST NUMBER key to select test conditions of setup #1. Continue to press the
key repeatedly to select the setup desired for programming (user test 1-25, or sequence S1-
S9). A Typical display is shown below, with setup #1 programmed for AC Hipot at 500
volts, high current limit of 15 mA and test time of 7 seconds. Note the message “Idle” in the
upper right display, this area always indicates the instrument status.
