Programming Preparations 
 
Before programming, you need to make the following preparations: 
 
1  Make sure that your PC has installed the NI-VISA library (can be downloaded from NI website: 
http://www.ni.com/visa/). Here, the default installation path is C:\Program Files\IVI Foundation\VISA. 
 
2  Here, the USB interface of the power supply is used to communicate with the PC and please use USB 
cable to connect the USB DEVICE interface at the rear panel of the power supply to the PC.  
You can also use LAN, RS232 or GPIB to communicate with PC. Note that the end mark of the 
command sent through RS232 interface is "\r\n". 
 
3  Turn on the instrument after connecting the power supply and PC.   
 
4  At this point, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears on the PC. Please follow the 
instructions to install the "USB Test and Measurement Device".  
 
 
5  Acquire the USB VISA descriptor of the power supply: press Utility and the VISA descriptor is 
displayed at the bottom of the interface, as shown in the figure below. Here, the VISA descriptor of the 
power supply is USB0::0x1AB1::0x0E11::DP8A000001::INSTR. 
 
 
By now, the programming preparations are finished.
