SETUP X-MOTOR
For more information on these settings, see the Appendix on motor design and adjustment.
Element Description
Spindle pitch This is the pitch of the lead screw of the machine. In case of
doubt, this must be remeasured.
Backlash The backlash of the sled. Those who do not have an exact
ball screw on their lathe will almost certainly have a back-
lash. The control compensates the backlash, so it is neces-
sary to measure it and adjust it here.
Steps /rev Number of steps required by the stepper motor to perform
one revolution. Usually in the range 200-1600 and depend-
ing on the setting of the motor driver.
Acceleration The acceleration of the stepper motor in mms2. This value
cannot be calculated but must be determined by test.
Stepper motors cannot be switched from 0 to 100, then
they would inevitably block. The „electronic lead screw“
therefore moves all movements with an adjustable acceler-
ation ramp.
Values between 50 and 150 should be tried at the begin-
ning.
F Slow <> The slow feed rate in mm/min. This is used when the Z axis
is approaching material in automatic processes and when
pressing the SLOW JOG keys.
F Fast <<>> The fast feed rate in mm/min. It is used when the Z axis is
retracted in automatic operations and when pressing the
FAST JOG keys. A maximum of 4800 mm/min is possible.
Reverse direction Reverses the direction of the motor
Available Select whether a motor is present on the X axis. If NO, the
ELS moves in 1-axis mode.
