Maintenance Manual
6) Maintenance
The following sections describe maintenance procedure for engines of the 912/914
Series above and beyond the maintenance and special checks, see latest issue
Maintenance Manual (Line Maintenance) for the respective engine type, 912 Series or
914 Series, and the systems descriptions given hitherto. The description is divided into
subsections and descriptions of the function of the various systems.
6.1) Engine suspension frame
6.1.1) Engine suspension frame disassembly
See Figs. 71-10 and 71-11.
â–² WARNING: Perform tasks only on the cold engine. Danger of
burns!
â—† NOTE: Prior to detachment of the engine suspension frame
(1), remove the water pump housing (2), as the
coolant sockets, which protrude outwards, would
hinder removal of the engine suspension frame.
See 75-00-00 sec. 3.
After removal of the two allen screws M10x110 (3) and M10x35 (4)
together with the lock washers, the engine suspension frame can be
taken off.
â—† NOTE: On engines of the 914 Series, it will also be necessary
to remove the muffler and the turbocharger.
See 78-00-00 sec. 3.
