33. ADJUSTMENT OF V-BEL TS (Alternator)

~. drive the altemator and maintain the battery 2 ~ ~,~
charge. ~'. '-
Therefore check the V-belt tension regularly
(initially after 2S running hours), and parti- 3
cularly if charging is not satisfactory. 4
1. Slightly loosen the securing bolts (2 and 3) 5
and slacken oH the tensioning bolt (5).
.j-'- 2. Tension the belt (6) by moving the alter- 6
nator (1) upwards. Tighten the tensioning
bolt (5).
.; 3. Check the tension. When the tension is Fig. 47

belt about 3 mm using thumb pressure at
a point midway between flywheel and drive 2 1

~ . 4. Tighten bolts 2 and 3, check that tension- :---
