7 Start-up and conguration
7.1 Initializing the actuator
Risk of injury due to the actuator stem extending or retracting.
Î Do not touch or block the actuator stem.
The process is disturbed by the movement of the actuator stem.
Î Do not perform the initialization while the process is running. First isolate the plant by
closing the shut-off valves.
Risk of malfunction through changing the position of the gears.
It is not necessary to make any changes to the mechanical parts inside of the actuator. The
actuator is ready to use in the delivered state after the supply voltage is connected.
TheinitializationisperformedinCode5.Duringinitialization,theactuatorstemmovesfrom
itscurrentpositiontothe100%endposition.Startingfromthe100%endposition,theactu-
atorstemmovestothe0%endposition.
Initialization is not possible in manual mode.
The 0% and 100% end positions depend on the operating direction used (see AnnexA).
Î Beforeinitialization,mounttheactuatoronthevalveasdescribedinthe'Installation'sec-
tion.
Î Set the automatic mode (see the 'Operation' section).
