Chapter 5 Dismantling components
SMSO-2-02.05- 15.07.03 129
5.3 Preparing for maintenance work
5.3.1 Safety Regulations
Safety regulations must be observed in line
with the work procedure or the maintenance
work concerned. In principle those safety
instructions that ensure maximum protec-
tion from bodily injury and material damage
must be applied. This applies in particular
where tests and measurements need to be
made on a machine operating without its
protective casing. Work carried out on live
electrical components or on pressurised
hydraulic systems should be carried out
only by trained personnel (see section enti-
tled “Safety Regulations”.
5.3.2 Accessibility of the machine
Before starting maintenance work, the coffee machine and
any add-on options must be organised in such a way that you
can carry out the work
in compliance with the safety regulations
quickly
completely
and in a clean environment
This means that the machine and its optional features must
first be disconnected from one another, any surrounding ma-
chines put to one side, or the coffee machine itself put to one
side. The sequence of these work steps has to be carefully
considered, because it is possible that the machine cannot be
connected to the power and water supplies for certain checks
while it is out of its normal position.
Uncouple the refrigeration unit from the coffee machine (see
sub-section entitled “remove covers”)
The necessary room to carry out the servicing work must be
available. If possible, place any optional features to one side.
5.3.3 Notes on the maintenance instructions
Dismantling instructions are identified by
means of the “dismantle, disassemble”
pictogram
The sections that follow contain dismantling
instructions only for those components that
have several mechanical, hydraulic or
electrical connections.
For systems and components that have two
types of design (e.g. left-hand and right-
hand grinder) the instructions are given for
just one of the systems. The instructions
apply also to the second system.
Straightforward dismantling procedures for
parts such as the solenoid valve, non-return
valve, manometer, control panel
components, toroidal core transformer etc.
are not described here. The relevant
assembly information can be found in the
spare parts catalogue. As a general rule you
will find a great deal of detailed information
about the sequence of assembly and the
installation situation in the spare parts
catalogue.
Different versions are shown for some of the
systems. In general the differences are very
clearly identifiable. In cases of doubt please
note the serial number or production date.
The fitting of retrofit kits is not dealt with in
the manual either. Retrofit kits contain
separate conversion instructions.
5.3.4 Assembling / installing the components
As a general rule the components are
assembled and reinstalled into the machine
in the reverse order to the dismantling
procedure. This is indicated in the
dismantling instructions by means of the
pictogram signifying “assemble in reverse
order”.
If there needs to be a variation to the
reverse order for assembly/installation, this
is indicated. In this instance, you need to
observe the sequence of the work steps,
e.g. 8. 7.. 5.. 4.. 2.. 1... (thus, you do not
carry out steps 6 and 3).
Many parts are not subject to a special
maintenance instruction. However during
assembly/installation, all parts should be
given at least a visual inspection for
cleanliness and condition of material.
You will find information about particularly
important inspections here.
