5.5.2 Grinder

Stern tube bearing / worm gear / grinding degree disk
Preparation
Dismantle the grinder
Service
1. Carefully pull the two snap-on strips on the stern tube
bearing apart, lifting the stern tube bearing as you do so.
2. Take out the worm gear
3. Clean the dismantled parts
4. In sequence and with a screwdriver, release all six
clamps on the grinding degree disk; then carefully re-
move the disk.
If the cogs on the grinding degree disk are broken off,
the disk must be replaced.
Assembly
The grinding degree disk is assembled and adjusted in the
same way as if the grinding blades have been re-
placed/checked beforehand.
1. Gently screw the upper part of the grinder tighter with
your hand, until contact is made with the grinder blades.
2. On the grinder housing, mark the cog position on the
upper part of the grinder.
3. Open the upper part of the grinder by 2.5 pins (i.e. by
turning in anti-clockwise direction)
Set the grinding degree disk in such a way that the cen-
tre of the tooth section is lying on the centre of the stern
tube bearing.
Set the stern tube bearing with the worm gear; push
downwards until the snap-on strips engage
