What to do if SERVICE is blinking on SICK DME5000 Measuring Instruments?
R
Rebecca BeckAug 16, 2025
If the SERVICE indicator is blinking on your SICK Measuring Instruments, check the power supply, cycle the power, and inspect the wiring as described in section 5.2.1. If the issue persists, it may indicate a hardware problem requiring repair. Also, if the internal temperature of the device is outside of the specification (too cold: < –15 °C or too warm: > 80 °C), wait for the warm-up phase or allow the device to cool down. Consider using a heater for cold environments.

Why is the PLB indicator showing on my SICK DME5000 Measuring Instruments?
C
Charles JohnsonAug 18, 2025
If your SICK Measuring Instruments show a PLB indicator, it could be due to several reasons: a) the light path to the reflector is interrupted; ensure the light spot remains on the reflector and realign if necessary, or use a larger reflector. b) optical interference; refer to section 5.1 “Montage”. c) if ATT is also displayed, the lens/reflector is dirty; clean the lens/reflector. d) if LSR is also displayed, the laser is defective; replace the device.

What does the TMP indicator mean on SICK Measuring Instruments?
J
Joel WebbAug 22, 2025
If your SICK Measuring Instruments display a TMP indicator, it means the internal device temperature is nearing its limit. Check the ambient temperature and improve ventilation if needed. Shield the device from radiant heat, such as direct sunlight. If operating in low temperatures, consider using a heater.

How to resolve ATT indicator on SICK Measuring Instruments?
S
Susan DavisAug 26, 2025
If the ATT indicator is displayed on your SICK Measuring Instruments, it indicates a pre-failure warning for contamination. Although the measurements are still within acceptable limits, clean the optical interfaces, including the reflector and lens.

What does LSR indicator mean for SICK DME5000?
S
sandra57Aug 27, 2025
If your SICK Measuring Instruments are showing a LSR indicator, it indicates a pre-failure warning for the measuring laser. The laser is still operational but nearing the end of its lifespan. Prepare a replacement device.

What to do if SICK DME5000 Measuring Instruments show measurement errors?
A
Alyssa ArnoldAug 30, 2025
If you are experiencing measurement errors with your SICK Measuring Instruments, it could be due to a few reasons: the light path is heavily attenuated by fog, dust, or similar obstructions (ensure a clear light path); the lens or reflector is dirty (clean the optical interfaces); the traversing speed is too high (verify the maximum traversing speed); or the light path to the reflector is interrupted (ensure the light spot is always visible on the reflector during movement).

Why are parameter changes not saved on my SICK DME5000 Measuring Instruments?
C
Craig ReidSep 3, 2025
If parameter changes made via the operating buttons are not permanently saved on your SICK Measuring Instruments, it may be because bus communication was active or there was no visual contact with the reflector during the change. Remove the bus cable and check the light path.

What causes pre-failure detection in SICK Measuring Instruments?
D
Douglas BuchananSep 5, 2025
If your SICK Measuring Instruments display a pre-failure detection, it could be due to several reasons: the laser diode is at the end of its lifespan (prepare a replacement device for the next maintenance cycle); the light path is attenuated by fog or dust (check the light path); the lens or reflector is dirty (clean the optical interfaces at the next maintenance cycle); or the device's internal temperature is at its limit (check the ambient temperature).

Why is there no RDY indicator on my SICK Measuring Instruments?
L
Logan OlsonSep 8, 2025
If your SICK Measuring Instruments are not showing a RDY indicator, it could be due to the device not being ready for operation, a hardware defect, or sleep mode being active. Send the device for repair or deactivate sleep mode.
