3.4 Mains connection
3.4.1 Safety information for mains connection
b
Check whether the available mains voltage matches the type plate specifications. If this
is not the case: Do not connect the device.
b
Check whether the mains supply has a functional protective conductor (PE). If this is not
the case: Do not connect the device.
3.4.2 Install an external mains fuse
b
Install a mains fuse in the mains supply. Recommended fuse value for an external
device: T 16 A.
3.4.3 Install an external mains switch
b
Install a mains disconnector switch close to the device to be able to switch the mains
supply to the device on and off.
b
Mark this mains switch clearly and unmistakably.
3.4.4 Connect mains connection

Supplementary Operating Instructions for Enclosure
CAUTION: Health risk
b
Only connect the device to a mains supply with a functional protective
conductor (protective earth, PE).
b
Only start the device when a correct protective conductor is installed.
b
Never interrupt a protective conductor connection (yellow-green cable)
inside or outside the enclosure.
Otherwise electric safety is not ensured.
The GMS800 needs more power (“inrush current”) than the rated current
temporarily when switched on. Reference value: 30 A at 230 VAC mains
voltage (60 A at 115 VAC).
b
Use fuses with slow trigger characteristic.
Internal mains fuses:
● Primary: Fuse 6.3 A in internal power supply unit. – If this fuse triggers:
Replace the complete power supply unit.
● Secondary: Fusible cutout F 8.0 A on the internal “distributor board” (on
CANopen connections). – If this fuse triggers: Clear the malfunction cause
and renew the fusible cutout.
European standard EN 61010 specifies that any fix-mounted devices not
having an own mains switch must be equipped with an external mains switch.
