8.5 Evaluation Unit
The Evaluation Unit is designed for maintenance-free operation over the entire service life
of the measuring system. If the Evaluation Unit is mounted outdoors, the following simple
checks should be carried out regularly:
‡ Visual inspection:
– Is the housing or mounting intact?
– Can the front door of the housing be opened and closed easily?
– Is the window on the housing free of humidity
– Is the LCD on the Evaluation Unit functioning correctly?
Exposed electrical connections
The electrical connections are exposed when the door on the Evaluation Unit is open.
Follow the relevant safety instructions.
‡ Open the door on the Evaluation Unit and check the following:
– Are the cable connections o.k.?
– Is the inside of the housing dry?
If you did not answer "yes" to one of the questions in this Chapter (8.5):
‡ Locate the cause.
‡ Carry out the necessary repairs.
If the Evaluation Unit is damaged (for example, LCD failure):
‡ Contact the Service department at SICK MAIHAK GmbH or your local sales representa-
tive.
