7.1 Introduction
Before you can work with SIMATIC PDM, a project containing at least one PDM object must
have been created in SIMATIC Manager. In the following, the term "PDM object" is used to
refer to those objects that can be configured, have parameters assigned, or be diagnosed with
SIMATIC PDM. PDM objects include:
Field devices
Remote I/O stations (with/without modules or field devices)
Networks containing field devices
Information about the creation process
For information on creating a project, refer to the PCS 7/STEP 7 help.
For information on creating PDM objects, please refer to the section "Inserting devices
(Page 77)".
Requirements for working with SIMATIC PDM
SIMATIC PDM is installed.
The necessary license keys are available.
The device descriptions have been integrated.
For online functions to work there must be a connection to the corresponding network. You
can find additional information on this in the section "Establishing connections to field
devices (Page 13)".
