You can use the simulation function provided to check out the system. The
simulation function shows you how the system will work when it is finally
programmed and operating. For more information on using the simulation
function, refer to the 4190 Information Management System (IMS) Operating
Instructions, Publication 579-410.
Use the following procedures in the table below to confirm that the network is
supervising for opens, shorts and grounds. The right column in this table shows
what is displayed on the IMS monitor screen when an open, short, or ground
occurs on a circuit.
Condition IMS Monitor Screen
Open -- Remove the end of line
and make circuit impedance
infinite.
Trouble Statement
Short -- Apply a zero ohm jumper
across the circuit.
Trouble Statement
Earth Ground -- Place a 10k or
smaller value resistor from
supervised wiring to Earth Ground.
If an Earth Ground occurs on any
circuit, the Earth Fault Trouble
Statement occurs.
