14.2 Manual Update
14.2.1 Carrying Out a Manual Update for ClusterController
You can always perform a manual update, even if the automatic update is activated for the
ClusterController. Settings already made for the ClusterController and the system data are
retained after the update.
You have the following options for performing the manual update:
• Performing a manual update via the Internet
• Performing a manual update via the user interface
• Performing a manual update via the USB data carrier
Performing a Manual Update via the Internet
Requirement:
☐ The ClusterController must be connected to the Internet.
Procedure:
1. Select the ClusterController in the system tree and select the menu Settings in the device
menu.
2. Select the parameter group Device > Update.
3. In the field Check for update and install it, select [Execute].
☑ The ClusterController checks whether a new update is available. If a new update is available,
the ClusterController downloads the update from the SMAUpdatePortal and starts the
update process.
Performing a Manual Update via the User Interface
1. Select the desired update file and download onto the computer (update files are available at
www.SMA-Solar.com).
2. Log into the ClusterController as Installer.
3. Select the ClusterController in the system tree and select the menu Update and save in the
device menu.
4. Select the parameter group Update.
5. In the field Upload update file (*.up2), select [Browse...].
☑ The file selection window opens.
6. Select the desired update file and select [Open].
☑ The name of the update file is displayed in the field Upload update file (*.up2).
7. Select [Execute].
☑ The update file is uploaded and executed.
Performing a Manual Update via the USB Data Carrier
1. Prepare the USB data carrier:
• Select the desired update file and download onto the computer (update files are
available at www.SMA-Solar.com).
