6 Maintenance by the operator
Note
In order to ensure the availability and operational safety of the equipment, we
recommend having the system checked for correct operation and performance at
least once per year by specialized technicians. To find contact addresses of
service organizations authorized by SPECTRO go to www.spectro.com
6.1 Operator maintenance plan
Caution! Ionizing radiation!
An X-ray tube is inside the spectrometer.
Proceed only with the operator maintenance task described in this chapter.
The operating personnel is not permitted to proceed with any other
maintenance work. Any other services (e.g., technical maintenance) or
repairs must only be performed by service personnel authorized by the
instrument manufacturer.
The maintenance intervals specified in the following table are guidelines which
should be observed as a minimum requirement. The maintenance intervals may
vary, depending on the use of the instrument.
To ensure the flawless function of the instrument, proceed with the following
maintenance tasks:
Daily operator maintenance work
Visual inspection. Checking the housing, the sample chamber,
the mechanism of the sample chamber lid
for damage.
Measure the reference samples.
Clean the sample chamber. Use a soft cloth and, if possible, a mild
cleaning agent or pure alcohol, e.g.,
isopropanol, see Chapter 6.5.
Weekly operator maintenance work
Inspection the filter mat (back of the
instrument) for contamination.
See Chapter 6.9.
Inspect the shutter O-ring for contamination
(option "dust protection shutter / beam
stabilization vacuum shutter”)
See chapter 6.10
