Installing a Power Supply
If the server has only one power supply, you can install a second power supply for
redundancy.
▼ Install a Power Supply
1. Attach an antistatic wrist strap.
See “ESD Handling Procedure” on page 22.
2. Prepare the server to install options.
See “Preparing the Server to Install Options” on page 22.
Note – You do not need to remove the server’s cover to install a power supply.
3. Unpack the power supply and place it on an antistatic mat.
4. Install the power supply.
a. Remove the filler panel from the server’s power supply bay.
See “Filler Panel Removal and Installation” on page 19.
b. Align the power supply with the empty power supply chassis bay.
c. Slide the power supply into the bay until it is fully seated (see
FIGURE 2-18
and FIGURE 2-19).
