Bearing (Crankcase and Generator Cover)
Inspection

Refer to “Engine Bottom Side Disassembly (Page 1D-
46)”.
Refer to “Engine Bottom Side Assembly (Page 1D-52)”.
Rotate the bearing inner race by finger to inspect for
abnormal play, noise and smooth rotation while the
bearings are in the crankcase. Replace the bearing if
there is anything unusual. Refer to “Oil Seal / Bearing
(Crankcase and Generator Cover) Removal and
Installation (Page 1D-62)”.

Removal
1) Remove the engine assembly from the frame. Refer
to “Engine Assembly Removal (Page 1D-13)”.
2) Remove the engine top side. Refer to “Engine Top
Side Disassembly (Page 1D-18)”.
3) Disassemble the engine bottom side. Refer to
“Engine Bottom Side Disassembly (Page 1D-46)”.
Left crankcase
1) Remove the each bearing retainer.
2) Remove the driveshaft bearing (1) with the special
tool.
