Replacing a Fuse

To run diagnostics
1. Open TSQ Tune:
a. Right-click the Start button and choose Explore.
b. Browse to the C:\Thermo\Instruments\TSQ\system\programs folder.
c. Double-click TSQTune.
2. Choose Workpace > Full Instrument Control to display the Full Instrument Control
Workspace.
3. Choose Workpace > Diagnostics to display the Diagnostics Workspace.
4. Select Test Name: Ion Source Board, System Control, or Analyzer Control Board.
5. Select how many times you want to run the tests.
6. Click Start to start the diagnostics.
Replacing a Fuse
Fuses protect the various circuits by opening the circuits whenever overcurrent occurs. On the
TSQ mass spectrometer, a failed fuse indicates a failed board or electronic module that must
be replaced by a Thermo Fisher Scientific service engineer.
Replacing PCBs and Power Supplies
The electronic assemblies that control the operation of the mass spectrometer are distributed
among various PCBs and other modules located in the tower, in the embedded computer, and
on or around the vacuum manifold of the mass spectrometer.
CAUTION Non-expert users should run only the following diagnostics:
•Ion Source Board
•System Control
• Analyzer Control Board
CAUTION Due to the complexity of accessing the TSQ mass spectrometer electronic
assemblies, only a Thermo Fisher Scientific service engineer can replace fuses.
CAUTION The TSQ mass spectrometer electronic assemblies are close-packed to
minimize the size of the system. Due to the complexity of removing and reinstalling the
TSQ mass spectrometer electronic assemblies, only a Thermo Fisher Scientific service
engineer can replace electronic assemblies.
