The data system computer has the following major features:

Data System / Mass Spectrometer / LC Communication, Contact Closure, and Line
Power Connections
Your Thermo Scientific mass spectrometry application supports LC instruments supplied by
Thermo Fisher Scientific and several other manufacturers. The instrument control software
for these instruments is provided on the LC Devices software CD.
Figure 33 and Figure 34 illustrate the communication, contact closure, and line power
connections for two Thermo Scientific Accela™ LC/TSQ Series MS systems.
Figure 33 shows the communication, contact closure, and line power connections for an
LC/MS system with a TSQ Series mass spectrometer, Accela Open Autosampler, and Accela
600 or 1250 Pump. The TSQ Series mass spectrometer communicates with the data system
computer through an Ethernet link by way of an Ethernet switch. The Accela Pump
communicates with the data system computer through a USB link and the Accela Open
Autosampler communicates with the data system computer through an RS232 link. Two
contact closure cables, the Accela Open Autosampler interconnect cable and the Detector
adapter cable, synchronize the system run signals.
Figure 34 shows the communication, contact closure, and line power connections for an
LC/MS system with a TSQ Series mass spectrometer, Accela Autosampler, Accela Pump, and
Accela Detector. The TSQ Series mass spectrometer, Accela Autosampler, and Accela Detector
(PDA or UV/Vis) communicate with the data system computer through an Ethernet link by
