Shutting Down the System Completely

6. Unplug the power cord for the mass spectrometer.
7. Turn off the (optional) LC. Follow the procedure described in the manual that came with
the LC.
8. Turn off the argon collision gas supply at the tank.
9. Turn off the nitrogen supply at the tank.
10. Turn off the data system:
a. Choose Start > Shut Down from the Windows™ taskbar. The Shut Down Windows
dialog box appears.
b. To start the Windows shutdown procedure, select Shut down and click OK.
11. Turn off the laser printer by using the on/off switch.
12. Turn off the autosampler by using the Main Power on/off switch.
CAUTION Allow heated components to cool before servicing them.
Note If you are planning to perform routine or preventive system maintenance on the
mass spectrometer only, you do not need to turn off the LC, argon and nitrogen gases,
data system, or autosampler. In this case, the shutdown procedure is completed.
However, if you do not plan to operate your system for an extended period of time,
Thermo Fisher Scientific recommends that you turn off the LC, data system,
autosampler, and gases as described in the following steps, 7 through 12.
