Solution:EnabletheExtenddesktopfunctionbydoingthefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortothemonitorconnector,andthenconnectthemonitortoanelectrical
outlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitorandthecomputer.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.
4.ClicktheMonitor-2icon.
5.SelectExtendthesedisplaysformultipledisplays.
6.ClicktheMonitor-1icon(fortheprimarydisplay,thecomputerdisplay).
7.Settheresolutionfortheprimarydisplay.
8.ClicktheMonitor-2icon(fortheexternalmonitor).
9.Setthescreenresolutionforthesecondarydisplay.
10.Settherelativepositionofeachmonitorbydraggingitsicon.Youcansetthemonitorsinanyrelative
position,buttheiconsmusttoucheachother.
11.ClickOKtoapplythechanges.
Note:Tochangethecolorsettings,right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.Click
AdvancedSettings,selecttheMonitortab,thensetColors.
•Problem:IfyouusetheExtenddesktopfunction,youcannotsetahigherresolutionorhigherrefresh
rateonthesecondarydisplay.
Solution:Changetheresolutionandthecolordepthtolowersettingsfortheprimarydisplay.Refer
tothesolutiontotheaboveproblem.
•Problem:Displayswitchingdoesnotwork.
Solution:IfyouusetheExtenddesktopfunction,disableit,andchangethedisplayoutputlocation.If
aDVDmovieoravideoclipisplaying,stoptheplayback,closetheapplication,andthenchangethe
displayoutputlocation.
•Problem:Thescreenpositionontheexternalmonitorisincorrectwhenthatmonitorissetforahigh
resolution.
Solution:Sometimes,whenyouuseahighresolutionsuchas1600x1200,theimageisshiftedtoleftor
rightonthescreen.Tocorrectthis,firstensurethatyourexternalmonitorsupportsthedisplaymode
(theresolutionandtherefreshrate)thatyouhaveset.Ifitdoesnot,setadisplaymodethatthemonitor
supports.Ifitdoessupportthedisplaymodeyouhaveset,gotothesetupmenuforthemonitoritself
