INSTALLATION AND SETTING PROCEDURES (HARDWARE)
8.8. VX-3000 Unit's LAN Link Connector Connection
8.8.1. LAN Link Connector Connection
Connect the LAN link connectors of all VX-3000 units within the system to each other via switching hubs.
Connect each of LAN link connectors A and B to the same switching hub or different switching hubs connected
in star conguration.
Also, since the VX-3000F has a HUB function compatible with RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol), loop
connection is allowed between the VX-3000F units without the use of switching hubs.
Notes
When non-RSTP-compliant switching hubs are used, increasing the number of the VX-3000 units causes
a packet loop to occur among the switching hubs until the VX-3000F begins to execute the loop detection,
possibly resulting in connection failure. The use of an RSTP-compliant switching hub is highly recommended.
Connecting the VX-3000 units to an unstable network where a packet loss may occur possibly results in
unexpected system reboot, broadcast status discrepancy between action and consequence, or unstable
operation.
Make the LAN link connectors completely independent from other LAN.
Only the audio input to the VX-3000PM can be transmitted to other network areas via a router by unicast.
Establish a dedicated line using a VPN and the like.
Be sure to use UTP or STP Category 5 straight cable (with R45 connectors) for connecting LAN link connectors.
However, it is recommended to use STP Category 5 straight cable if the cable connection distance is long.
The distance between each of VX-3000 unit and a switching hub, and between switching hubs is less than 100
m.
When making a redundant conguration, use both the terminals A and B for connections. If not required, use
only the terminal A.
When making a redundant conguration in the systems that include the VX-3000CT or the VX-3000PM, use
the RSTP-compliant switching hubs.
When connecting the VX-3000CT or the VX-3000PM without using the RSTP-compliant switching hubs,
connect only the LAN terminal A.
When making the VX-3000F in a redundant conguration without using the RSTP-compliant switching hubs,
use the switching hub that can transparently transmit BPDU (Bridge Protocol Data Unit) packets.
When using multiple switching hubs, make a star connection as shown in the connection examples 4.
