Unitsteeringperformancewillbeaffectedbyincorrectfronttirepressure,binding
inthehydraulicsteeringcylinder,extraweightonthevehicle,and/orbindingof
thesteeringlinkageorfrontfork.Ensurethattheseconditionsarecheckedand
functioningproperlybeforeproceedingwithanysteeringsystemhydraulictesting.
Note:Thereliefvalveforthesteeringcircuitisintegratedintothesteering
controlvalve.
TestProcedure
1.Ensurethatthehydraulicuidisatnormaloperatingtemperatureby
operatingthemachineforatleast10minutes.
2.Drivethemachineslowlyinagureeightonaatlevelsurface.
A.Thereshouldbenoshakingorvibrationinthesteeringwheelorfront
wheel.
B.Thesteeringwheelmovementsshouldbefollowedimmediatelyby
acorrespondingfrontwheelmovementwithoutthesteeringwheel
continuingtoturn.
3.Stoptheunitwiththeenginerunning.Turnthesteeringwheelwithsmall
quickmovementsinbothdirections.Letgoofthesteeringwheelaftereach
movement.
A.Thesteeringcontrolvalveshouldrespondtoeachsteeringwheel
movement.
B.Whensteeringwheelisreleased,steeringcontrolvalveshouldreturnto
theneutralpositionwithnoadditionalturning.
4.Determineifthesteeringcylinderhasinternalleakageusingthefollowing
procedure:
