TheSandPro3040/5040machinesuseupto4relaysthathave5terminals.The
standardrelaysarelocatedalongtheframecrossmemberundertheoperator’s
seat.Atagneareachwireharnessrelayconnectorcanbeusedtoidentify
eachrelay.
Anadditional5terminalrelayisusedtocontroltheoptionalrearremote
hydraulicskitorthehydraulicswitchkit.Thisrelayislocatedbehindtheleft
siderearwheelshroud.
Relayswith5terminals:
•Themainrelaysuppliespowertothemachinecontrolcircuits.Themainrelay
isenergizedbythekeyswitchwhenintheRUNorSTARTposition.
•Thestartrelaysuppliespowertothestartersolenoid.Thestartrelayis
energizedtheappropriateinterlocksareinpositiontostarttheengine.
•Theinterlockrelayisusedtoopentheengineignition(magneto)circuitto
allowtheenginetorun.Therelayisenergizedbytheseatswitch,thetraction
neutralswitch,diodesD1andD2,and/ortheoptionalseatswitchrelayas
partoftheinterlocksystem.
•Theoptionalseatswitchrelayisincorporatedintotheinterlockcircuitwhen
anoptionalrearhydraulicskitorhydraulicswitchkitisinstalled.Therelay
suppliespowertotheoptionalPTOswitch.Therelayisenergizedthrough
theseatswitchwhenanoperatorisintheseat.
TestingRelayswith5Terminals
RefertoFigure84forthisprocedure.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,loweranyattachments,engagethe
parkingbrake,setthekeyswitchtotheOFFpositionandremovethekey
fromtheswitch.
2.Disconnectthegroundcableatthebattery;refertoRemovingandInstalling
theBattery(page6–31).
3.Raisetheoperator’sseat.
4.Locatetherelaythatistobetestedanddisconnectthewireharness
connectorsfromtherelay.Checktherelayandtheharnessconnectorfor
damageorcorrosionandcleanorrepairifnecessary.
