1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunit(orattachment),
engagetheparkingbrake,setthekeyswitchtotheOFFpositionandremove
thekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Raisetheseat.
3.Disconnectnegativebatterycablefrombatteryandthendisconnectpositive
batterycable;refertoRemovingandInstallingtheBattery(page6–31).
4.Disconnectthewiresandcablesfromthestartersolenoid.
5.Usemultimeter(ohmssetting)andcheckthecontinuityofthestartersolenoid
acrossthecontactposts.Resistanceacrossthecontactpostsshouldbe
inniteohms(nocontinuity).
6.Apply12VDCacrossthesolenoidcoilpoststoenergizethesolenoid.The
solenoidshould“click”asitisenergized.Whileenergized,resistanceacross
thecontactpostsshouldbelessthan1ohm(continuity).
7.Removevoltagefromsolenoidcoilposts.Thesolenoidshould“click”as
itde-energized.Makesureresistanceacrossthecontactpostsisinnite
ohms(nocontinuity).
