WARNING
•Wearsafetygogglesandrubbergloveswhenworkingwith
electrolyte.
•Chargebatteryinawellventilatedplacesogassesproduced
whilechargingcandissipate.
•Sincethegasesareexplosive,keepopenamesandelectrical
sparksawayfromthebattery;donotsmoke.
•Nauseamayresultifthegasesareinhaled.
•Unplugchargerfromelectricaloutletbeforeconnectingor
disconnectingchargerleadstoorfrombatteryposts.
Theoriginalmachinebatteryisamaintenancefreebattery.Amaintainable
batteryofthesamesizeandpowermaybeusedasareplacement.
1.Whenusingamaintainablebattery,thebattery-electrolytemustbekeptat
theproperlevel.
2.Thetopofthebatterymustbekeptclean.
3.Ifthemachineisstoredinalocationwherethetemperaturesareextremely
high,thebatterywilldischargemorerapidlythanifthemachineisstoredina
locationwherethetemperaturesarecool.
4.Checkbatteryconditionweeklyorafterevery50hoursofoperation.Keep
terminalsandentirebatterycasecleanbecauseadirtybatterywilldischarge
slowly.

Donotremovellcapswhilecleaning.
A.Cleanbatterybywashingentirecasewithasolutionofbakingsodaand
water.Rinsewithclearwater.
B.Coatbatterypostsandcableconnectorswithbatteryterminalprotectoror
petroleumjellytopreventcorrosion;refertoBatteryT erminalProtector
(page2–17).
WARNING
Connectingthecablestothewrongbatterypostcouldresultin
personalinjuryand/ordamagetotheelectricalsystem.
Ensurethatthecablesareproperlyconnectedtothecorrectbattery
postsbeforeoperatingthemachine.
5.Tightenthebatterycablesonthebatteryterminalstoprovideagood
electricalcontact.
