ThetractioncircuitoftheSandPromachinesisaclosedloopsystemthat
includesthehydraulicpump,threehydraulicwheelmotors,andaremotely
mountedreliefvalve.Ifacomponentinthetractioncircuitshouldfail,
unwantedmaterialandcontaminationfromthedamagedcomponentwill
circulatethroughoutthattractioncircuit.Thiscontaminationcandamageother
componentsinthatcircuit.Thecontaminationmustberemovedassoonas
possibletopreventadditionalcomponentfailure.
Therecommendedmethodtoremovecontaminationfromthetractioncircuitisto
temporarilyinstallaT orohighowhydraulic-uidlterintothecircuit;referto
HighFlowHydraulicFilterKit(page2–17).Ifatractioncircuitfailureissuspect,
theltershouldbeinstalledbeforeconnectinghydraulictestgaugestotest
tractioncircuitcomponentsorafterreplacingafailedtractioncircuitcomponent.
Thelterwillensurethatcontaminatesareremovedfromtheclosed-looptraction
circuitandthus,preventadditionalcomponentdamage.RefertoFilteringthe
Closed-loopTractionCircuit(page5–59)foradditionalinformationonusingthe
Torohighowhydrauliclter.
Note:Iftractioncircuitcontaminationexists,thetractionpumpcasedraincould
allowcontaminatestoenterthehydraulictank.
ThealternativetousingtheT orohighowhydrauliclterkitafteratractioncircuit
componentfailurewouldbetodisassemble,drainandthoroughlycleanallthe
components,thehydraulictank,andthehydraulictubesandhosesinthetraction
circuit.Ifanydebrisremainsinthetractioncircuitandthemachineisoperated,
thedebriscancauseadditionalcircuitcomponentfailures.
