yokefromthemachineifnecessary.
9.Inspectthecylinderballjointbootandreplacetheballjointifnecessary.
10.Ifthehydraulicttingsaretoberemovedfromthecylinder,markthetting
orientationforassemblypurposesandremovethettingsfromthecylinder.
DiscardtheO-ringsfromthettings.
InstallingtheSteeringCylinder
RefertoFigure67forthisprocedure.
1.Ifpreviouslyremoved,presstheballjointintothecylinderandinstallthe
balljointretainingring.
2.Ifthehydraulicttingswereremovedfromthecylinder,lubricatenewO-rings
withcleanhydraulicuid,positiontheO-ringstothettings,andinstallthe
ttingsinthemarkedorientation;refertoInstallingtheHydraulicFittings
(SAEStraightThreadO-RingFittings)(page5–9).
3.Ifpreviouslyremoved,applyathinlayerofanti-seizecompoundtotheshaft
andboresoftheyokebeforeinstallingtheyoke.
4.Thoroughlycleantheballjointtaperandthebossinthefrontfork.
5.Positionthesteeringcylindertothefrontforkandyoke,thensecurethe
steeringcylinderballjointtothefrontforkwith2jamnuts.
A.Installtherstjamnutandtightenfrom88to115N·m(65to80ft-lb).
B.Whileretainingtherstjamnutwithawrench,installthesecondjamnut
andtightenfrom88to115N·m(65to80ft-lb).
6.Securethesteeringcylindertotheyokewiththepreviouslyremoved
fasteners.
7.Removethecapsandplugsthenconnectthehydraulichosestothecylinder
ttings;refertoInstallingHydraulicHosesandTubes(O-RingFaceSeal
Fitting)(page5–7).
8.Lubricatethecylinderballjointgreasetting.
9.Chargethehydraulicsystem;refertoChargingtheHydraulicSystem(page
5–64).
