A.Checkthevoltageacrossthebatteryterminalsbeforetestingthebattery.
Ifthevoltageislessthan12.0VDC,chargethebatterybeforecontinuing
thetest.
B.Ifyouchargethebattery,applya150Aloadfor15secondstoremove
thesurfacecharge.Useabatteryloadtesterfollowingthemanufacturer's
instructions.
C.Ensurethatthebatteryterminalsarefreeofcorrosion.
D.Measuretheelectrolytetemperatureofthecentercell.
E.Connectabatteryloadtestertothebatteryterminalsfollowingthe
manufacturer'sinstructions.Connectadigitalmultimetertothebattery
terminals
F.Applyatestloadof1/2thecoldcrankingamperageratingofthebattery;
refertoBatterySpecications(page6–30).
G.Takeatestvoltagereadingwhilestillunderloadafter15seconds,then
immediatelyremovetheload.
H.UseMinimumVoltage(page6–32)todeterminetheminimumvoltagefor
thecentercellelectrolytetemperaturereading.
I.Ifthetestvoltageisbelowtheminimum,replacethebattery.Ifthetest
voltageisatorabovetheminimum,returnthebatterytoservice.
