1.3 General functional description
The CD_-75 rotary measuring system is a safe and absolute Multi-Turn position
measuring system with Synchronous-Serial-Interface (SSI).
The measuring system has primarily been designed for use in systems that require
safe position detection.
The safety measuring system consists of a redundant, two-channel system, in
which
● Variant 1: optical and magnetic scanning units
● Variant 2: two magnetic scanning units
are arranged on a drive shaft, designed as a hollow shaft or solid shaft.
1.3.1 Main features
● SSI interface, for output of the master system data
● SSI interface, for output of the safety system data
● In case of variant 1 only:
Additional incremental or SIN/COS interface, not safety-oriented
● The two systems mechanically are only connected by the common drive shaft and
the housing
● Both systems have a common voltage terminal connection, but the systems are
internally electrically separated from each other over two separate power supplies
● Channel 1, master system:
– Variant 1:
optical Single-Turn scanning via code disk with transmitted light and
magnetic Multi-Turn scanning
– Variant 2:
magnetic Single and Multi-Turn scanning
● Channel 2, safety system:
magnetic Single and Multi-Turn scanning
● A common drive shaft
The safety system serves for the safety check by the control and as replacement in
case of failure of the master system. The two measuring systems possess own SSI
interfaces, which transmit the same data format.
The incremental interface available in variant 1, or the optionally available SIN/COS
interface, is derived from the master system and is not evaluated in relation to safety.
