5 Operation
Front axle steering (opt)
Front axle steering is used for fast transport and road travel.
Accident hazard when changing steering mode during machine
travel!
Can cause serious injury or death.
► Change steering mode only at machine standstill.
► Changing the steering mode during machine travel on public roads is
prohibited.
The switch panel with the press switch is located in the instrument panel
underneath the steering wheel.
Changing over from 4-wheel steering to front axle steering
1. Align the rear and front axle wheels parallel during straight-ahead
machine travel.
2. Stop the vehicle.
3. Slide the lock on switch 63 downward and press
the switch to position B.
➥ Rear axle steering is locked, front axle steering is in operation.
➥ The front axle steering symbol B illuminates in the indicator light 64.
Changing over from front axle steering to 4-wheel steering
1. Align the wheels of the front axle parallel to the wheels of the rear axle
during straight-ahead machine travel.
2. Stop the vehicle.
3. Slide the lock in switch 63 downward and press the switch to position
A.
➥ 4-wheel steering is in operation.
➥ The 4-wheel steering symbol A illuminates in the indicator light 64.

– see "Synchronizing the steering system" on page 5-3.
