and then install the straight key

4. Tighten the ring nut to the specified
torque.
NOTE:
• To secure the ring nut, bend one tab

the claw washer into a slot in the ring nut.
• Bend all other tabs toward the propeller
shaft housing assembly.
Installing the water pump and shift
rod
1. Install the shift rod assembly

NOTE:
Install the shift rod assembly into the lower
case, turn it counterclockwise 90°

, and
then push it down

to connect it to the shift
slider

2. Install new oil seals into the oil seal hous-
ing as shown.
NOTE:
Install an oil seal halfway into the oil seal
housing, then the other oil seal.
