5. Install the piston with the “UP” mark on
the piston crown facing towards the fly-
wheel magnet.
NOTE:
Apply engine oil to the side of the pistons and
piston rings before installation.
6. Install half of the main bearings

the cylinder block

• Install the main bearings in their original
positions.
• Insert the projection

of each bearing into
the slots in the cylinder block.
7. Set the crankshaft

and oil seals

and
C
into the cylinder block as shown.
NOTE:
Apply engine oil to the inner oil seals before
installation.
8. Install the connecting rod caps
D
to the
connecting rods, and then tighten the
connecting rod bolts to the specified
torques in two stages.
