u Before Auto-Tuning the Drive
Check the items below before Auto-Tuning the drive.
n
Basic Auto-Tuning Preparations
Auto-Tuning requires the user to input data from the motor nameplate or motor test report. Make sure this data is
available before Auto-Tuning the drive.
For best performance, the drive input supply voltage must be greater than the motor rated voltage.
To cancel Auto-Tuning, press on the digital operator.
Table 4.8 describes contact input and output terminal operation while Auto-Tuning is being executed.

WARNING! Sudden Movement Hazard. Inadvertent holding brake release may cause damage to equipment or injury to personnel.
If installed, do not release the mechanical brake during Stationary Auto-Tuning. Ensure that the mechanical brake
release circuit is not controlled by the drive multi-function digital outputs during Stationary Auto-Tuning.
Note: To run the Rotational Auto-Tuning, be sure to disconnect the motor from the machine and check to see that there is nothing
dangerous even if the motor starts to turn around. It could result in a failure of the drive. When the rotational Auto-Tuning is
performed for load-connected motor, the motor parameter could not be calculated accurately and the motor could run unusually.
n Notes on Rotational Auto-Tuning
Decouple the load from the motor to achieve optimal performance from Rotational Auto-Tuning. Rotational
Auto-Tuning is best suited for applications requiring high performance over a wide speed range.
If it is not possible to decouple the motor and load, reduce the load so that it is less than 30% of the rated load.
Performing Rotational Auto-Tuning with a higher load will set motor parameters incorrectly, and can cause irregular
motor rotation.
Ensure the motor-mounted brake is fully released if installed.
Connected machinery should be allowed to rotate the motor.
u Auto-Tuning Interruption and Fault Codes
If tuning results are abnormal or is pressed before completion, Auto-Tuning will be interrupted and a fault code
will appear on the digital operator.
