• A timing output for 2 MHz synchronization with an RJ45 connector, suitable for
symmetrical twisted pair cables with an impedance of 120 Ω or for coaxial cables
with an impedance of 75 Ω.
• DC dual power or AC single power connector
• Four Miscellaneous Discrete Input (MDI) ports
• Four Miscellaneous Discrete Output (MDO) ports
• Two 64 kbit/s engineering orderwire
• Two LEDs (red and green) to indicate the status of the unit.
NOTE: It is not mandatory to have an LBO (Lightguide Build-Out) between the optical
interfaces of the former 1643 AM unit and the connected optical cable. However, in
the case of measurements with optical loops and/or connecting power meters an LBO
(15 dB) can be required. An LBO can also be necessary to ensure the correct input
power (see chapter 8, section “Connecting the fiber cables” (p. 8-2)).
Pluggable SFPs
The optical/electrical line interfaces of the1643 AMS unit can be equipped with various
SFPs (Small Form-Factor Pluggable). Note that the GE SFPs are only applicable to the
X5IP option card.
The following SFPs are available:
• STM-1, S1.1 (CC109469809), short haul, 1300 nm, 15 km
• STM-1, L1.1 (CC109469825), long haul, 1300 nm, 40 km
• STM-1, L1.2 (CC109469817), long haul, 1500 nm, 80 km
• STM-1, 155E (CC109543561), electrical
• STM-1/STM-4, SWF 1-1, (CC109559500), 1480/1500 nm, single fiber bidirectional
• STM-1/STM-4, SWF 1-2, (CC109559492), 1490/1310 nm, single fiber
bidirectional.
• GE SX (CC109526483), 850 nm, multi-mode 550 m (X5IP option card only)
• GE LX (CC109526491), 1310 nm, single-mode 5–10 km (X5IP option card only)
• GE ZX (CC109534347), 1550 nm, single-mode 80 km (X5IP option card only).
