2.1 5620 SAM management of 9500 MPR/9500 MPRe devices
The Alcatel-Lucent 9500 MPR is a microwave digital radio that supports PDH and
Ethernet to migrate from TDM to IP. The 9500 MPR provides a generic, modular IP
platform for multiple network applications, such as 2G, 3G, HSDPA, and WiMAX
to accommodate broadband services.
The 5620 SAM support for the 9500 MPR includes the following device objects,
auxiliary equipment, and service types.
1-slot MSS shelf
4-slot and 8-slot MSS shelves
9500 MPR card support includes:
core-enhanced card
core-B card
1 × radio modem card
2+2 × Ethernet (EAS) card
4+4 × Ethernet (EAS) card
2 × STM card
16 × E1 (ASAP) card
32 × E1 card
32 × DS1 card
2 × DS3 card
1 × STM (Channelized) card
AUX alarm card
basic and advanced fan trays
ODUs and XPIC
LAG objects
services and service tunnels

The 5620 SAM also supports the native management of the 9500 MPRe, a variant of
the 9500 MPR. See “9500 MPRe support” in this section.
MSS-1 shelf
The MSS-1 is a 1-rack-unit, 1-slot shelf. The first four ports of this shelf are Ethernet
ports. Ports 5 and 6 are SFP ports. The shelf also supports 16 × DS1 or 16 × E1 ports.
The MSS-1 shelf supports only the following types of services on the 5620 SAM:
VLL (Cpipe only)
VLAN
Note 1 — The equipment tree in the 5620 SAM GUI displays the
MSS-1 shelf as a card slot with Ethernet ports numbered from 1/1 to
1/6 and TDM ports from 1/7 to 1/22.
Note 2 — Radio LAG (L1 and L2) are not supported.
