Clarity Synthetic
Switches provide support for Clarity Synthetic, a feature introduced in OmniVista 8.2.3 which helps determine
network health using synthetic transaction from a Wi-Fi client. The switch can convert one or both AP radios
from APmode to station mode based on instructions from the OmniVista server. When the radio of the AP is in
station mode, it starts a synthetic data transaction within the network.
The following table provides a list of AP platforms that support Clarity Synthetic:
Supported AP-Platforms
OAW-AP200 Series access points
OAW-AP207 Series access point
OAW-AP210 Series access points
OAW-AP220 Series access points
OAW-AP300 Series access points
OAW-AP310 Series access points
OAW-AP320 Series access points
OAW-AP330 Series access points

Synthetic
The network health is determined based on the response from the network and the time taken for the
synthetic data transaction. The results captured as part of these transactions appear in the Home > Clarity
page of the OmniVista WebUI, and are used for the following purposes:
n Troubleshoot a live network
n Provide whole network overview (WLAN and Wired)
n Support Wi-Fi and Internet Protocol Service Level Agreement (IP SLA)
n Troubleshoot Remote network using client traffic (Synthetic)
For more information, refer to the Clarity chapter of the OmniVista 8.2.3 User Guide.
