10 Inspection Log
Before using the Back-in-Box-Lift for the first time, it must
be inspected by a technical expert.
This inspection must also be carried out if modifications
are made to the construction or after major repairs have
been carried out.
If used commercially or communally, this inspection must
be repeated at intervals of not more than one year.
We recommend that this annual inspection is also carried
out if the Back-in-Box-Lift is used privately.
During inspection, faults affecting the safety should be sys-
tematically identified and remedial action taken.
The items to be inspected are listed in the inspection list
(see Section 10.2, page 75).
A technical expert is someone who, by virtue of their tech-
nical training and experience, has sufficient knowledge in
the field of lifting platforms and is sufficiently familiar with
the relevant national occupational health and safety regula-
tions, accident
prevention regulations and recognised rules
of sound engineering practice (e.g. BG rules, DIN stand-
ards, VDE provisions, technical rules and regulations of
other member states of the European Union or Turkey or
other signatory states of the Agreement of the European
Economic Area) that they are able to assess the safe
working condition of such lifting platforms (from: BGR 500).
