Changing the engine oil
We recommend
that
have your oil changed
by
an
authorized Audi dealer or a qualified service
sta-
tion.
Before you check
anyth

The
engine
oil
must
be
changed
according
to
the
in
tervals
specified in your
Warranty
&
Mai
n
te-
nance
booklet. This is very
important
bec
ause
the

ub
ric
at
ing
propert

es
of
oil diminish
gradually
during
normal
vehicle use.
Under
some
ci
rcumstances
the
eng
ine o
il
should
be
changed
more
frequently
. Change oil
mo
re of-
ten
if you drive
mos
t
ly
short
dist
ances
,
ope
rate
the
vehicle
in
dusty
areas
or
un
der
predomin
a
nt
ly
Ch

cking
a
nd
Filling
stop

and
-
go
traff
ic conditions,
or
have
your

cle
where
temperatures
remain
below
freezing

or
extended
periods.
Deter

engine

and

change
the

often

recommended

reduce
the
risk
of
persona
l injury if you
must
change
the
eng
ine oil
in
your vehicle
yourself:

Wear
eye
protection.
- To
reduce
the
risk
of
burns
from
hot
engine
oil, l

t he
engine
cool down
to
the
touch.

When

emov
ing
the
oil drain plug wi
th
your
fingers,
stay
as
far
away
as
possible. Always
keep
your
forearm
parallel
to
the
ground
to
help
prevent
hot
oil
from
running
down your
arm.
- Drain
the
oil i
nto
a
container
designed
for
this
purpose,
one
large
enough
to
hold
at
least
the
tota
l
amount
of
oil
in
your
engine.
- Engine oil is poisonous. Keep it well
out
of
the
reach
of
children.

Continuous
contact
with used
engine
o
il
is
harmful
to
your
skin. Always
protect
your
skin by
washing
oil
off
thoroughly
with
soap
and
wate
r.
