BASIC Configurations
A BASIC infusion provides non-DERS based infusion programming.
DERS limits do not exist when using BASIC mode. BASIC mode allows the user to manually
specify an mL/hr rate, dose mode, dose rate and volume to be infused, among other parameters. It
does possess the following safety features: Check Flow at Run, Secondary Error Prevention and
Single Step Rate Change of 101%.
CAUTION BASIC Programming Use.
BASIC programming should only be used when the desired drug or
concentration is not available in the facility’s Drug Library.
