7.3 Cleaning the machine
7.3.1 Auxiliary agents and their use
Clean the machine regularly. This will extend the service
life of expensive components and you will detect:
- loose components,
- defective cables or lines,
- excess or poor lubrication,
- wear and undesired corrosion.
Synthetic parts and sealing components must never
come in contact with aggressive liquids. (e.g.
tetrachloromethane, benzene, lyes, acids, etc.).
Do not hose down the machine with water.
Water damages the electronics and leads to
corrosion.
Bind dripped oil with binding agents and dispose of it according to the relevant
regulations. Remedy the cause of oil dripping.
Use wire brush and solvents only in extreme cases of emergency.
Never use petrol or nitro dilution for cleaning. These
materials develop readily inflammable vapours. One
spark (cigarette) is sufficient for ignition.
This may result in the most serious burns.
Cleaning by means of suction air
Removal of loose dirt is easy if you use suction air. This
applies also to machine parts that are not readily
accessible.
Cleaning by means of compressed air
Be cautious when using compressed air. Wear
googles! Otherwise danger of eye injury!
Furthermore, you would blow dirt into guides and
bearings.
Do not apply this type of cleaning, if possible.
