About this Guide
Document Objectives
This guide explains the use of Transaction Language 1 (TL1) for the Cisco ONS 15454, ONS 15327,
ONS 15600 and ONS 15310-CL systems. Use this guide in conjunction with the appropriate publications
listed in the Related Documentation section.
Audience
To use this publication, you should be familiar with Cisco or equivalent optical transmission hardware
and cabling, telecommunications hardware and cabling, electronic circuitry and wiring practices, and
preferably have experience as a telecommunications technician.
Document Organization
The Cisco ONS SONET TL1 Reference Guide, R6.0 is organized into the following chapters:
• Chapter 1, “General Information,” explains command syntax, autonomous messages, CTC
interoperability, security level privileges associated with each command, command completion
behavior, and other general information.
• Chapter 2, “Procedures and Provisioning,” provides procedures and provisioning for setting up TL1
communication, test access, gateway, software download, and other procedures and provisioning
using TL1.
• Chapter 3, “TL1 Errors,” lists TL1 errors supported by the Cisco ONS 15454, ONS 15327,
ONS 15600, and ONS 15310-CL.
